È dura, la vita dei blockbuster in tempo di Oscar.
I "popcorn movies" non ricevono mai molta attenzione da parte dell'Academy, che solo di recente ha cominciato a prestare attenzione ai film di supereroi, specie con la nomination di Logan come Miglior sceneggiatura non originale.
Da tutta mancanza d'amore è nata "Why not me?", una canzone che narra le pene dei poveri eroi degli action-movies (e non solo!) che non hanno ricevuto l'attenzione che pensavano agli Oscar 2018. Il brano è stato scritto dai Lonely Island (un trio comico che conta tra i suoi membri Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg e Jorma Taccone). Proprio a loro l'Academy avrebbe chiesto di scrivere una canzone per la cerimonia di quest'anno, che però non è stata selezionata a causa dell'alto budget che la performance dal vivo avrebbe richiesto.
E, in effetti, una Why not me? in diretta mondiale sarebbe stata epica, visto il cast di questo sketch. In poco meno di quattro minuti avremmo sentito schiarirsi le corde vocali:

Sfortunatamente, viste anche le difficoltà logistiche, nella demo ufficiale della canzone dobbiamo accontentarci di ascoltare voci meno celebri: Greg Chun, Baraka May, e gli stessi Lonely Island. Sono loro, quindi, a guidarci in questo viaggio in cui Thor e Wonder Woman si chiedono perché salvare il mondo non sia bastato, mentre i (cinque) Chris vogliono una nuova categoria degli Oscar che premi il Miglior Chris, e Dominic Toretto spiega quanto sia fondamentale far saltare in aria tutte le auto del mondo. E, ovviamente, Pennywise ricorda a tutti quanto sia bello mangiare bambini.
